My father had a friend who raced a 49 Ford at the Orange Show Fairgrounds in San Bernadino. Got to see D.K Ulrich-Ivan Baldwin-Parnelli Jones-Alan Heath and some real good locals in modifieds and stocks.

Went to 1964 Times GP and saw more great drivers than I can name. Went to Questor GP also. Was on the hot grid (holding signs with car # so drivers could tell where to start) for the 3rd, 4th Long Beach GP. Several Riverside events (the 1965 Motor Trend 50 was fantastic), Ontario races (The one Bobby Allison won in the Matador was really good).

I finally figured out I could see more on TV than when I was at the track. So I haven't been to a race in a long time. Fontana is about a 4 hour round trip. Maybe I'll go se Rosa this year!

I really started getting interested in racing late in 1962. NASCAR, USAC and F1 races on the TV were rare, but the only way to see anything. Magazines were about 6 months after the fact, and very little in the newspapers. So I had to really work at being a race fan! I joined this group on GEnie, I forget how long ago that was!<G> My brother (CARACARA) and I are kind of the un-official historians for the group.

Growing up in Southern California exposed me to many kinds of racing. And I like them all!
